Poll: College Parking Ticket, Should I contest it?

What happens if you don't pay it? I got one probably 7 months ago on one of my cars(not the one I put down when I filled out the paper work for the parking permit) and they haven't even put a hold on my registration. I figured I would atleast get something in the mail about it by now but nothing. Its only $10 so I should just go pay it but I don't wanna .

Well, at my school I was notorious for parking in faculty parking... to the point where they booted my car after like 20 tickets.

Anyway, you could try contesting the ticket where you pay the fine, but if there's a lot of paperwork/hassle then it might not be worth the effort for $10. The university struck me a deal where I paid off all my tickets at once with a discout and got the boot taken off. That car payment seems rather hefty for someone in school btw.

Was the ticket from the campus parking police? If so, don't pay it. The worse that'll happen is pay $10 (maybe $15 max for a late charge) when you graduate.

Or maybe they won't say anything at all.

At my school, people never pay parking tickets... what they do is continue to park illegal and get tickets... once you get around 10, change your license plate and you get away with it totally free! But dont get towed... if you do, they will force you to pay all the tickets before giving you your car back...

Most of the time, you can't contest parking tickets because they caught you in the act and there is no way around it. It says you violated parking rights, so you got a ticket. Just pay it and don't do it again.

i just paid 88 bucks for 3 parking tickets!! normally its 22 for 1, but it doubles after 14 days
im really pissed

I got out of it. It took all of 2 minutes and I saved myself 10 bucks. Well the deal with my car is I pay as much of it as I can (till I run out of money) then the 'rents take over and keep track. Then when I am 35 they will hit me with a big bill. I am not kidding either. Of course they might be in Shady Pines Nursing Home by then. But I am trying to pay as much as I can now so I don't have to worry about it later. I actually could have paid it off if I hadn't gone to Europe 4 times in the last 8 years.
