WARNING: If you played with that page to see the differences:
Even after you disable it on that webpage above, it still is semienabled (checked) in MyComputer/properties/advanced/Performance&Visual-Settings/SmoothEdgesofScreenFonts.
Verified: If you follow that activex link and test the settings, and go back to step one to uncheck it, it will leave the smooth edges of screen fonts checked and fonts will still be 'smoothed' even if that wasn't your preference before you went to that page. It may not be the same as cleartype but it's not what I started with. Bastages!
I noticed on another webpage that some heavier fonts were still smoothed... I thought it was odd. So, if you don't like it enabled and fooled around here, go back to performance settings and disable it. Hopefully first post gets updated to let folks know how to disable again...
