Poll: Cleartype Settings

Do you use Cleartype, and if so, what are you settings. I have a Dell FP1800 with a GF4 Ti4200, and it just seems blurry to my eyes. I labeled the retangular settings from Microsoft's Website left to right, top to bottom, 1-6.

I use cleartype and still can get sharp text on my 2000FP. I can't run it at native resolution, unfortunately, because everything is too small.

Uh, if you're not running the monitor at it's native resolution, you're not getting clear ANYTHING, including type. The only way I could see you even claiming that is if you're practically blind. LCDs look absolutely HORRIBLE running at non-native resolutions.

No, you're not.

I use it on both my laptop and CRT.

My CRT is a 21" running at 1280x1024@85Hz (32-bit color depth). ClearType looks better to me enabled for some odd reason...

Cleartype looks ok in apps but i don't like the way it looks on the desktop.

OTOH, i do prefer cleartype on an LCD when NOT in native resolution.

forgot about this, tried it, loved it, looked back on my second monitor, a normal crt tube and it was on there also, so its off now

What do you expect? It's a Microsoft site for a Microsoft product... just use IE.

besides, if a web page could change your system settings without the aid of something like an activex control, the internet would be a scary place :Q

It gives me a headache after a while if I enable it. It looks better at first but after a while my eyes get tired reading it. Thus I prefer it disabled on my LCD or CRT displays.

Since I reinstalled, I just turned it on and didn't tune it yet. I think I mentioned a program in someone's LCD monitor thread a few weeks ago which lets you tune the settings more precisely. Let me see if I can dig it up.
