Chopsticks < *.

We aren't from the stoneage. Forks, spoons, sporks, and knives were invented for a reason.

How do you eat non-sticky rice with chopsticks?

Anyone that didn't grow up using Chopsticks who thinks they are superior to "western" utensils is a pretentious asshole.

Now I'm confused. What does chopsticks have anything to do with the stone age?

And not being purely facetious, but you're saying that chopsticks were invented for something else, and were used as eating utensils on a whim?

it kind of depends on what you're eating. I'd rather use chopsticks to eat Chinese food that features a lot of stuff that are precut. But if i was eating steak it wouldn't make sense to use them.

Chopsticks are good because they're hygenic - they're thown away (and hopefully recycled) after use. Before modern hygenic practices were accepted, like washing everything in hot water every time it's used, knifes and forks carried disease.

What a crappy pole. If I wanted to poke someone, chopsticks would be superior to spoons so I voted for chopsticks vs spoons? Same thing with knifes. However I believe forks poke people better than chopsticks so I voted for forks? WTF...

It all depends on the what you are using it for... If you wanted to pick up something then spoons might not be superior. If you wanted to drink something without having to lift the bowl up, then spoons will be superior...

You can still pick up rice just fine with chopsticks. If you hold it spaced enough, it will hold rice.

I find that I pick up food faster with chopsticks than "western" utensils, although, there are some situations that are easier to eat with a "western" utensils.

Prices of chopsticks are going up so many places are charging a tiny bit more to counter the costs. Also a lot of places are also moving to more than one time use chopsticks.

If you have the rice in a bowl its quite easy since you can just shovel. And its alot simpler to just have one utensil in your hands than being forced to switch back and forth among three of them.

I still end up cutting my steaks first and then using the chopsticks to pick up the pieces :p

when you don't have knife and fork for a piece of steak, you can just pick up the whole piece with chopsticks and then bite it off. not that you'll look slick, but you can still eat steak with chopsticks.

The knife and fork are superior eating utensils.

That being said, when I'm eating somewhere that I can use chopsticks, I do, because it looks cooler. :D

Chopsticks are used in places where most often, the food is precut for you.

Non-sticky rice isnt very hard to eat with chopsticks... Now stuff like corn w/o cob, peas, are kind of challenging with chopsticks.

Typically, it just makes sense to use the utensils that are typically used for the cuisine.

"i'll tell you what i like about chinese people. they're hanging in there with the chopsticks, aren't they? you know they've seen the fork. they're staying with the sticks. i don't know how they missed it. chinese farmer gets up, works in the field with a shovel all day. shovel. spoon. come on. you're not plowing 40 acres with a couple of pool cues!"

I hope you mean either East Asians, or Orientals, because IIRC, Indians may have never even heard of chopsticks.
