POLL: Chevy Avalanche - yay or nay?

Too much plastic...looks cheap. I'd rather have a full-sized Silverado. My dad has a 2500HD with the 300hp V8. 😀

You do realize that you can get them without all that plastic now? I should have mentioned that - that's probably what I'd be going for.

yah get one of those if you want a pickup; 2500hd w/ duramax and allison tranny 🙂

if you want an suv get a suburban.

$38-40K CDN, so about $30-ish US I suppose.

Duramax's kick serious butt, but I have no need for one of those. I need something comfortable, decent milage and capable of carrying the odd pallet in the back. An enclosed SUV is out of the question (I already have one of those!). I need a pickup bed of some sorts for the odd load.

I did not know that. That looks a whole helluva lot better than it did before.

BTW - The 5.3 (engine in the 1500 Avalanche) is 295HP. Fairly economical too with a 3.73 rear end (as far as trucks go!)

Well, for me I'd be using the bed occasionally. I kind of like the idea that it can be all enclosed as well, and even heated/cooled with the cab if the midgate is down. I also like that it is quite long with the midgate down too - 8'+. More than a box in the typical super/extended cab pick ups. The interior is very spacious and comfortable.

The one drawback I don't like, is that the bed is quite narrow. Basically the width of a regular p.ups bed between the wheel wells. Probably wont pose a problem as I still that thats about 4' or something like that, but it looks narrow.

If I had the money, an Avalanche 2500 would be the first thing on my list. 🙂

I like the 2500 too, but I don't have the need for that big of a unit. Besides, if I did, I would look at a Duramax. I love that engine. Too bad they don't put that in a 2500 Avalanche!

Cost a few G more and get worse milage... BUT, It is very roomy and comfortable. I haven't completely ruled it nor the new F150 out.

But, as I kind of mentioned earlier, I kind of like the idea of connecting the cargo bed to the interior... its pretty unique.
