FYI, alot of older popcorn ceilings contain asbestos fibers
I've heard of guys that wet down popcorn ceilings (assuming they haven't been painted) and scrape them off with a putty scraper. Yikes!

My house has light too med texture everywhere except the kitchen and I hate it. Its an older house and there have been many patches over the years and you can see ever single one of them because they never got the textures to match. Back when everything was still white it also made everything look dirty. pic note I wasn't done putting up molding and crap after painting in that pic yet.

We had popcorn throughout the whole house till a few years ago when we scraped off the popcorn from our downstairs. Yep, we wet it too so i wonder how much asbestos we came in contact with. (house was built in 1979)

Popcorn was normally used to cover ceilings that had cracks or visible waves. A well made house wouldn't need it. That's what the contractors told me at least.

yea popcorn is a pain. but good for covering up uneven ceilings and i guess its cheap and fast. but if you want to change it later or paint it, its a freakin pain. asbestos and all that.

Popcorn is disgusting. It falls apart gradually and creates dust all over your house.. if it hasn't been painted. If it has, it still collects a shitload of dust and is really unhealthy for the interior air quality.

Smooth all the way. I'd like the floors to all be smooth too, but I'm in an apt. Carpet is just as bad for your health as popcorn ceilings. :(

nothing pisses me off more than the ceiling. mine is made of concrete and is in the pattern of rectangles. whenever i lie in bed my mind constantly goes nuts trying to find different combinations of rectangles and patterns
