I'd suggest only using cash advances for SERIOUS emergencies. I find that payroll screws up something, and they usually freak out when they are missing a few hundred dollars for a while until you explain to them

i never fool with the cash advances for trips, but if i did, it would calculate if based on per diem per day, hotel expenses if any, taxi, and airport expenses.

simple, take the max, you can always use what's left over to buy something nice for your lady friends
