I can't swim very well. I have a phobia of getting water on my face/in my eyes. I can't even put my face under a running shower. :(

Very, very few schools around these parts have swimming pools. I only know of one that has one for sure, and that's because it's the HS that my father went to.

Wooohoooo!

It is a great skill to have (swimming) but not everybody is raised around water. I was in the Navy and there were people in my boot camp company that couldn't swim :Q
I was fortunate to spend every summer in Hermosa Beach in LA when I was growing up. My grandfather was one of the original lifeguards there in the 20's so it was not as if I had a choice, lol.

I wash my hair with my back to the shower and then I lean my head back into the water.

I rinse my face after washing it with a wet washcloth.

Yo,
I can swim well, having spent my teenage years on the beaches of Southern Cal.

Have noticed that a LOT of Northern Cal folks cannot swim.
