[POLL]: can you remember an entire IP

No Lifer
for something random like 217.165.93.147 (I just made it up) ... am I the only one who can only remember half, then the other half as I type it in somewhere else (say I want to ping it) ?

I mean, if I spent 30+ actual seconds on it, maybe I can remember the whole thing... but it's not worth the time to do that...

Try it - look at the IP relatively quickly, then open up command prompt and see if you can duplicate the whole thing with a ping command without going back to look at it.

just tried it, yes I can.

Some are easier than others.

Yes I can, oddly enough. I also have my credit card #s memorized.
But for some damn reason, I can never remember where I left the remote.

im thinking static vs dynamic change? 😉

are you kidding me? I can barely remember my name at times.

I just have faith that pie is good eatin and it gets me through my day.

Yes... The secret is to think of it NOT as 1 12(ish) digit number, but as 4 3(ish) digit combinations. Besides... most of the IP addresses that you deal with on a daily basis are usually pretty simular.

IP addy, MAC address, Software keys, 173 passwords, 18 credit card numbers, 13 PINS, 4 WEP keys, and text from 3 comodo keys to add to web servers when needed.

Is that pretty good?

photographic memory ? It's insane to remember more than a couple MAC addresses (for example) at the same time unless you're used to them by repetition. I mean, I can remember my credit card number (cause I buy online too much 🙁 ) and my SSN... but you know...

I managed the first eight number only then had to look again

reason for that?

all of the account numbers where I work are 8 digits
