Poll: Can you break an egg with one hand?

yeah i pretty good at it now...used to be a line chef at a restaurant in town...always worked the breakfast crowd...a couple of mishaps...nothing major though.

I've tried many a times but like trying to finish squeezing one out with your mother knocking on the bathroom door, it always end in a mess all over the floor.

I remember when I was a kid a guy down the street told me that there was no way to crush an egg with one hand (not crack it open). Later I found out it's possible, but it takes a lot to do it and it goes everywhere Never actually tried to crack one with just one hand.

I'm totally useless when it comes to eggs (even with TWO hands)

I either crack it too lightly and then destroy it trying to get my fingernail into the tiny crack I've created - getting shell in my egg.. OR

I crack it too hard, destroying it... getting shell in my egg.

I leave it to the professionals now

Sure, it is easy, just throw it against the wall with one hand.

Anything will break with enough force, no matter how many people tell you otherwise.

You know those chinese finger puzzles, the harder you pull, the tighter they get? Pull hard enough and they break. They could be made out of steel or carbon fiber, if you can pull hard enough they will give.

Your question brings back memories from a long time ago. In the 40's when I was in the service our mess chief would take an egg in each hand, crack them at the same time on the edge of an insert, open the shells by flexing his hands and dump the contents smoothly into the insert. He could do this at an incredible speed and it was amazing to watch. Eggs come in boxes of either 30 or 60 dozen eggs and he could go through one in short order. Now and then a bit of shell would fall into the insert and he would have to break his rhythm to pick it out -- but mostly it was just grab, crack, dump, grab, crack, dump ----

Easy to do, just crack it first, apply some pressure to the middle of the egg, dump out the contents.

Yes, one egg in each hand. I can knock out a dozen in less than 6 seconds. I worked up to the point where I could do two in each hand, but it took so long to position the eggs properly, that it wasn't worth it.
