My take:

Can - Soda in the can always tastes fresher then bottled or fountain, although it's usually just a little too syrupy. Most consistent.

Plastic Bottle - Bottled soda is OK if nothing else is available, but usually loses freshness and fizziness. (update: sorry, I should have specified plastic. Most stores do not sell glass bottles in this area!)

Fountain - Depends, if they mix the syrup, carbonation and water properly, Fountain drinks ROCK. Often times they're either too watered down or too sweet.

I love fountain pop if it's mixed right. There's nothing like Dr. Pepper from the fountain.

Once I had a coke from the fountain that had WAY too much syrup in it.....it was delicious and strangely addictive :Q

I love Coke in a bottle, preferably just barely above the freezing point. Best stuff ever. Unfortunately, where I live (northwest US) it's pretty expensive and the bottles are tiny.

Of course, currently I'm kind of addicted to this "melon soda" they sell at 7-11. It comes in an aluminum bottle...

yes, plastic sucks as much as cans, but differently. I'll take a glass bottle over all others.

from your description it sounds like you're talking about plastic bottles. those suck. glass bottles, on the other hand, kick butt.

glass bottle
can
plastic bottle (if drunk less than 3 days)
fountain
plastic bottle (if drunk over a more than 3 days)

foutain is really inconsistent, which is why i put it there. if it were consistent it would basically be the same as the quicker plastic bottle.

Same as above, without ice. ;)

We'll see if he turns down the Mountain Dew, chocked with ice, that I give him tomorrow.
