Poll: BMW vs. AUDI

Why do people like the TT? I think it looks ugly as sin, I would hate to have one, not matter how well it performed.

Old style BMW's are nice, the new look sucks ass, but I think Audi's look even worse (pretty much all of them), so it's BMW for me.

If it's between the 3-series and A4 I would go with the A4. When I was new car shopping a few years back I was torn between the 323i and A4 1.8T...the Audi won hands down. I like turbos and the tuning potential of the 1.8T is awesome with a mere chip. I eventually graduated to an APR Stage III kit...the car drives like a beast now! 🙂

It's tough to compare the two, as they both have a number of models that the other doesn't have a competitor for. I'll give this a try anyway, sticking only to models that one can compare directly. Overall, I find that BMW does a better job of fitting it's particular market segments. Excellent cars that are the consistantly the benchmark for other manufacturers.

Sedans
  • A4 > 3-series (Audi because of value for price - not design; I find the 3-series much better looking)
  • 5-series > A6 (BMW because of design and driving dynamics; The A6 is an aging platform that will be replaced next year)
  • A8 > 7-series (Both are good designs, but damn the A8 makes me wet)

Coupes
  • A4 > 3-series (Audi because of value for price - not design; I find the 3-series much better looking)

Convertibles
  • 3-series > A4 (Both are sharp looking designs, but I find the A4 too feminine; Both are ugly with the soft-top up)
  • Z4 > TT (BMW because of design and driving dynamics; The TT needs an updated engine and stiffer suspension)

Miscellanous
  • 6-series > * (BMW has no competition in this particular segment; Gorgeous design inside and out and awesome engine)
  • Allroad > X3 (Not quite the best comparison; The Audi looks much better, but I don't really see a purpose of either vehicle)
  • X5 > * (Again, BMW has no competitor from Audi in this segment)

Pre-Bangle, I'd have said BMW in a heartbeat, awesome handlers, awesome engines, awesome looks.

Post-Bangle...Audi it is, Im no big fan of Audi, I don't much like their designs, and their cars are rather boring, my friends tuned S6 for example was fast and all, but it still felt like a very fast moving couch.
But in the end, the new 5's, Z4, and 6 are just too friggin incredibly fugly, there's just no way I'd even considder one.

Makes me wanna kiss you!
And what a gorgeous ass!

Then comes this mongoloid fish looking thing ???
Don't check out this ass, your eyes WILL hurt.

Bangle should be shot!

Nice! '98 here, too. 😀

Since there is no Shark upgrade (yet) for the E36 323's, I'll have to be happy with a home-made Benfer/Dinan-style CAI, Eisenmann Exhaust and UUC Evo SSK. Maybe UUC pulleys and UUC E34 M5 clutch kit eventually... as is, the car still has plenty of power to easily get me in & out of trouble and is an absolute joy to drive everyday. Also gotta get out to Big Sur like this guy!

Gotta love the E36's lines. 🙂

chris bangle designed the current E46 3 series..

I actually like the new z4, it looks aggresive and really nice!!!
The new 5 is also very nice.... the 7 I am now used to (still dont like the huge ass)

the 6 series is just sweet... you have to look at it IRL, not from pics
