If you had to choose between the new line-up of BMW's (new 3, 5, 7, 6, Z4) or the older models ('90s to early 2000's), which would it be?
No mixing and matching, it's one or the other.

Yes, I know Bangle had influence in the old lineup as well, but it made for a catchier title.

Pre for me

I like the post-Bangle. People find it hip to bash they style, just like bashing Apples.

didn't he design a lot of the models in the "90s to early 2000" period?

some people may bash them because it's "cool" to do so, but some of us honestly don't like the new look. Especially the Z4, what were they thinking?

All the new BMWs look like crap. Some even look like cheapish Korean/Japanese clones and not very Germanic IMHO (especially the Z4 and 5-Series). The only good Bangle designs are the E46, Z3 and Z8

You had time to post twice, you have time to read 3 complete sentences.

No, I genuinely hate the style. Terrible lines, poor flow and balance. They almost look pieced together. BMW's design used to be the pinnacle of elegant simplicity. Bangle has gone completely against all that.

All of the models in the BMW line right up until Bangle screwed up the 7 were rolling testaments to the pursuit of perfect form.
Bangle has certainly grown on me, but the new Bimmers are nothing like the old ones.

older ones. they all reached their peak before the current redesigns. those were some gorgeous cars, just pure sex. now they look bloated and tubby at best.

Exactly.

And since when did it become hip to be a hater? I always thought it was hip to be a lover?

I went to the BMW dealership this past weekend, sat in the 5 again and still could not get the distaste out of my mouth. That car is ugly inside and out.

Fortunately, the new 3 doesn't look too bad. It will warrant further inspection.

Pre-Bangle with one exception: The roadster. I like the new roadster better. The old one looked overstyled and bloated.

Everything else post Bangle SUCKS.

id take the new generation any day, Bangle has style, i dont get why people mock him,

(i must say i dont like 1 series though, and anyone who buys one is just showing how clueless they are. you can spend £32K on the 1 series thats too much for a car smaller than the ford focus. the 1.6-1.8 litre engines are lackluster too, its just a car for those who just have to have a BMW even if they cant afford it. the 7 series and 6 series are an aquired taste i think, theyve grown on me and i like the way they look. 5 series is gorgeous, the Z4 is probably the best looking, and the new 3 series i cant comment on coz i havent seen it fully yet)
going by top gear though, seems BMW are cost cutting, note James May talking about interior plastics quality wasnt up to the usually BMW standard in the 1 series
