I examine it under a microscope, conduct a full battery of tests to determine the composition, then store it in a sample jar and freeze it. Every time.

i'll check sometimes to make sure the 'stuff' is on the kleenex and not on my face or clothes or something...that is if the kleenex is so cheap and breaks easily. Otherwise I'll just fold and toss.

Somewhere around here, I have a book that quotes an (I think French) etiquette book from the 18th century "When you blow your nose, do not examine the contents of the kerchief as though rubies and pearls may have fallen from your head"
