Poll: BIOS reset after system crash - why?

Hello,
I'm having a serious problem with both of my Abit motherboards (W2000, ME, W98SE). After a serious system crash my BIOS hangs during a reboot. It can only be "freed" with that BIOS reset jumper on my motherboard. The system is NOT overclocked and Quake3/UT run for hours. But I sometimes try out beta drivers and other critical stuff so that's why my system crashes sometimes. Anyway, I don't think it for normal to have to reset the BIOS after a system crash. Is there anybody who can help me? Do I finally have to switch back to INTEL chipsets?!

Thomas.

My system configuration:
- Processor: P3-600 (100 FSB)
- RAM: 128 MB PC133 3-3-3
- Motherboard: VIA VT6X4 (Apollo133A) or VA6 (Apollo 133)
- Grafics: ELSA EARAZOR X2 (AGP)
- SCSI: Dawicontrol SCSI 2970 (PCI)
- CD burner: TEAC CD-R55S (SCSI)
- CD ROM: TEAC CD-532S (SCSI)
- Removable disk: Jaz 1 GB (SCSI)
- Hard disk: IBM 10 GB (IDE)
- Sounds: Soundblaster Live Player 1024 (PCI)
- Modem: Softmodem PCI56 Motorola (PCI)
- 300 Watt Power supply
- AGP 2x activated
