bi-weekly = 26 times per year
bi-monthly = 24 times per year

How about saying, "every two weeks" or "every other week". No reason for the confusing "bi" prefix that can mean either twice or half.

There are 52 weeks in a year. Every 2 weeks=26 times a year. There are 12 months in a year. Twice a month=24 times a year.

Look it up on the dictionary. Bi can mean multiply by two or divide by two:

biweekly:"1. Happening every two weeks. 2. Happening twice a week."
bimonthly: "1. Happening every two months. 2. Happening twice a month."
biyearly "1. Happening every two years. 2. Happening twice a year."

bi- prefix usage: "Bimonthly and biweekly mean ?once every two months? and ?once every two weeks.? For ?twice a month? and ?twice a week,? the words semimonthly and semiweekly should be used. Since there is a great deal of confusion over the distinction, a writer is well advised to substitute expressions like every two months or twice a month where possible.
