IMO kittens are pretty cool, but nothing beats a geriatric cat for some real fun, especially when you have more than one. This is the list I've got so far of my favorite things. Picking a favorite is difficult, though, but I must say the puking everywhere is my favorite.

I kind of enjoyed the dreadlocks with my old medium furred cat. she never had issues through most of her life, but started getting dreads in the later years. A real PITA to keep her looking good.

My cat already pukes a lot, are you saying this gets even worse as they age? That sucks...

It's not so much the puke that's the issue, it's WHERE she does it. My cat likes to puke in my bed, which is a HUGE ordeal since my bedspread does not fit in my washer. I bought another one that's not as thick, she puked on it the other day and I tried to wash it and it ripped in a bunch of spots as it was just too tight of a fit. Then she also likes to puke in no less than 10 different spots throughout the house. I'll spend a good hour walking around and literally working my way through parts of the house as I disinfect the floor and clean up chunks and bile. Grossest thing ever.

I think I need to invest in a bigger washing machine so the bed wont be such a huge ordeal when she pukes in there, but the only ones that are bigger are the new types that are front load as they don't have an agitator which gives more room, and are generally bigger too. but those have their own set of problems such as mold. They also have tons of electronics that can go bad.

You forgot them being deaf and no longer getting out of my way so I trip on them at night.

But my favorite thing is they finally die and my house is no longer so damn disgusting and I don't have to deal with cats anymore.

<-- Does not like cats. But cats were part of the deal when I got married.

Puking is bad, but cat piss/crap is the worst and most persistent smell ever. Have to use vinegar to get rid of it.

OMG, you people are sick! I would probably take my cat to the shelter once it starts walking into things.

I loved my older cats. They were super friendly, and they followed me around everywhere I went.

At some point, you gotta know when to get them put down. When they are constantly sick and miserable and they make you miserable as well, it's time to put them out of their misery.

you're dumb.

That's what you would do to a cat that lived its life and grew old with you? Drop it off at a shelter and abandon it, or, leave it to be put to sleep among strangers?

Just put your cat up for adoption now why don't you, it deserves better than to be stuck with you.

Ah yes. One out cats has been pissing on the rugs in the kitchen. Babysitter tossed the wet rug in the drier. She thought it was water.

I now know how to take a part a drier.

Never had this problem and one of my cats is 22 another 18. Mine are indoor/outdoor cats so that might help. Generally in old age the only thing is they get slow, partially deaf, and have poor eyesight (maybe). They also groom for shit and need help.

Puking a lot can by symptoms of kidney problems.
One of my folks cats, not even that old, maybe 12,13, started puking a lot, lost some weight. Had to put him on kidney meds recently because they were shutting down on him. Have to give him fluid (body temp water) in the back of the neck now, until (if) he pulls through.

It might be food, but it might be a sign of more.

My male cat is now 12, and is driving me absolutely nuts. He randomly started spraying all over the house, which is odd because he is neutered. He also tries to mount and screw our female cat every night, which is annoying for two reasons - 1) the sound scares the hell out of my four year old son; and 2) he is frickin neutered! And for the hat trick, about three months ago he started puking every day, which is annoying because hacks for ~15 minutes before finally puking whatever is in his stomach on whatever happens to be in front of him. 2 days ago, he yacked underneath our bed at 2AM, which was just awesome. Nothing says good morning like having to move a 250lb bed and clean cat puke in the middle of the night.

Is your female spayed?

I've only had the occasional vomiting when my cat eats too much. So I've started portioning out her meals and have seen the vomiting drop down to about once a day at most.

OMG, you people are sick! I would probably take my cat out back once it starts walking into things.

Fixed that!
Really, just be merciful, and get over it.

...I wonder if this is going to get me a second infraction, because someone imagines me encouraging animal cruelty 😀

Yep, it can get worse.

Tried food, on some expensive prescription stuff, it's just how it is 🙂

I and my family have had quite a few cats over the years. We have never had problems with them puking, peeing, or pooping. After a while they will lose their sight and hearing, however, it is pretty amazing how they still seem to find the liter box.

If your cat is peeing everywhere, you might want to have it checked for diabetes or something, cause cats typically do not pee anywhere besides their liter unless they are sick or highly stressed.

Our 2 cats are costing a lot in dental. They are both almost 10 years old and both have needed extractions. We have fed them Hills Prescription T/D for years but their teeth are still rotting. We tried cleaning their teeth ourselves, but that didn't work for obvious reasons, and bringing them to the vet for cleaning once a year is crazy expensive.

Oh well, it's worth it.
