Toyota I think is much more reliable and less problematic because they under-tune their engines.

Just look at the 2JZ-GE engine, if has so mcuh potential but they under tune it. I guess they choose reliability and comfort over performance.

I think Nissan is the other a complete 180 from Toyota and Acura is somewhat in between.

I think Nissan is a 180 from Toyota in terms of their approach to their market. But they also have de-tuned motors (see: 3L VQ, 3.5L VQ, 4.5L VK).

btw, the 2Jz-GE is the 3L I6 right?? I wish Toyota would use normal engine codes...that display the diaplcement in them.

Ye, I experiuenced that engine when I test drove a 99 GS300. Very quiet engine...my dad had his ear to the hood and told me to turn the car on when it was already on. LOL..it was funny. I wish it would rev a little faster though...we almost bought hte car, but didn't get a good vibe from the place. Also the car drove kinda funny (very loud over bumps and squeamish as well)

prolly the tires were done for.
i can't hear my engine either when I'm idle and when I give it a lil throttle i can hear my exhaust with a deep sound.

I had a 99 GS300. It wasn't that quiet. You could definitely hear it when outside but inside it was quite quiet. My MDX on the other hand is quite loud even at idle.

I'm going to vote Toyota/Lexus. I'm a tad bit biased.

Dad has had the LS400 and 430. He loves them and never had any probs. I have a 96 S/C 4Runner and an 03 Camry SE V6. I love the FJ40, Supra, 4Runner, SC430, and GX470.

No wasn't the tires..i Checked the thread. I think that car had been in an accident..had to be something wrong wiht it..it was almost $10k cheaper than the 99s that the Lexus dealer were selling (same mileage too).
