I would stick with Cingular... like you, i travel quite a bit around the country... before when I was with AT&T wireless, sometimes I wouldn't get reception... however after the AT&T/Cingular merge, i have had absolutely no problem since... very happy with them
 
Verizon, beyond a shadow of a doubt. I don't like Verizon as a company, and I don't really like their plans, and many people don't like their phones (though I love my e815)... but their coverage is awesome.
