I took indy, emptied my account...

actually I emptied it last night on the kings game :(, but placed a small bet on OU for the mavs game as a backup.

Here is what my normal 15 "experts" came up with - the numbers are how many chose that team to win vs the spread:

stl=8
ne=9
ind=13
gb=8

GB +5.5

Buckwalter is out and Philly will have a hard time stopping Green. I'm not saying GB will win, but it will be closer than 5.5. GB plays well on the grass and in the cold.

No, NE -6.0 vs TEN means if you bet on NE they have to win my more than 6 points to make money. 6 pts would break even and losing the game or winning by less than 6 points would lose your money

Ten +6.0 @ NE means the game is at NE and you are picking the Titans to either win the game or to lose by less than 6 points.

no, Ten gets a 6 point head start from NE.
NE is favored to win by 6 points.

almost forgot: "you're a gambling newbie"

no NE will win by more than six.

Depending on the bookie you may or may not lose a push but you will have to pay the juice even if it is a push.

Oh well in that case the obvious choice seems to be IND over KC. I think KC has been going downhill ever since the portentous loss to CIN :)

I don't bet on over/unders anymore. From 11-16 there were 43 overs, 43 unders, and 2 right on. Somebody is good at figuring over/unders that's for sure. Also for weeks 9-16 the spread winners were 55 favorits 63 underdogs, and 6 evens.....just fyi

Of course the overs and unders are going to be about even -- they want it to be perfectly even so they only take the juice :)

Otherwise what kind of oddsmaker would you be? :p

if ya bet against the chiefs, prepare to be in the poorhouse...no way they are gonna lose this one. Undefeated at home this year.

That may be so, but the Colts O absolutely rolled over Denver and most shocking of all their defense played well. I wouldn't be suprised at another 5 TD's from Manning this week.

I have a tough time with that game. It almost seems like a suckers bet. What I mean is that the oddsmakers are setting this game figuring that everyone will put money on Indy. After all Indy rolled over Denver and KC didn't end the season particularly well. Everyone remembers Manning's perfect game and there will be a lot of poeple putting money on the Indy game. Personally I'll probably go for GB +5.5. Home field won't help Philly much in this case b/c Favre and Ahmen Green are used to the cold. I think Philly will miss it's guy in the backfield (although they still have 2 decent runners left).

In order of confidence:
GB +5.5
Indy +3.0
Stl -7.0
NE -6.0

As big as a Pats fan that I am, I'd bet the farm on Ten +6. I'm expecting this to be a really tight, close game, but with the Pats pulling it out, by less than 6 points of course. ;)

Car +7.0. Just too big of a number considering you've got an untested qb who likes to throw picks and on the other side a very physical back who will eat up a lot of clock time keeping STL's offense off the field. I know Bulger is 13-0 at home but I think it ends here.

if whoever you place your bets with keeps the 'juice' on a push, i suggest finding a new sportsbook...

oh and for what it's worth, I like, (from best bet to... worst bet):

NE -6
car +7
PHI -5.5
KC -3
