1.5" Most people try to pour a beer so there is as little head as possible, but you're actually supposed to pour a beer right into the center of a glass. Pour your beer with a thick head, and it will be more flavorful. This varies with each beer, of course.

It would depend on the beer you are pouring. When I drink Guinness, I want a good thick head on it.

You prefer your mustache to be all natural?

Depends on the beer. A light beer, 0.5, just enough to see that there is some. With Guiness I like a nice thick head.

I just found out a little while back that drinking out of a glass (anything, not just beer) is much better from a taste perspective - apparently your sense of smell helps and adds a fuller taste to whatever you are drinking. cool eh

Around here people like their draft with very little head... I like about a half inch. A friend of mine went over to Europe (Ireland or Scotland, can't be sure) and worked in a pub for 6 months. The patrons were so picky about the amount of head that he was almost fired on his 1st shift for not putting any head in the glasses.
