Which LCD TV manufacturer offers the best picture quality in your opinion?

I am talking sets in the 37" - 50" size range.

I think Sony and Samsung are near the top with Sharp not far behind. Does Pioneer make LCD TVs? I've only seen plasmas from them.

Personally, based on what I have seen at BB, I would say the Sony Bravia TVs. But I want to know what others think.

I was looking at a samsung one. It was rather expensive and looked really good. I thought it was a plasma it looked so good.

Then saw that it was LCD. Impressive for LCD. I think it was like 5-6K.

Sony/Samsung probably have the absolute best picture quality, but the Westinghouse cant beat for the price.

The Samsung 96 Series is the best.

In the under 50" size, this is the one I'd get:

http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/LCDTV/LNS4696DXXAA.asp

It uses their new 7th generation 92% NTSC gamut CCFL. This gives them the color rendition of Sony's LED based Qualia 005, without the slow response times.

It's also rated at 6000:1 dynamic contrast, the best on the market for LCD. Is it as good as Plasma? No, but it is starting to come close.

LMAO, people are voting for Westinghouse? The question wasn't which of those brands have the worst picture...

I know.

It's pretty sad isn't it?

This is why you don't ask home theater questions on ATOT. The question was QUALITY, not "can my broke ass afford it".

Exactly. He didn't ask, what is the best poor man's LCD. He asked which has the best picture quality, period.

That being the case, as much as I hate to admit it (due to my loathing of Sony), Sony's XBR3 sets are top of the line. You don't get any better than that for LCDs.

That has to be the one I saw. I honestly thought it was a plasma.

While Olevia is much better than Westinghouse it doesn't compare to the beautiful picture that the Samsungs have.

Whoops, I forgot about that guy. Yep, Samsung is coming out like a mad man, dominating the DLP and now looking to take out the LCD market. And to think a few years ago, Samsung used to be the poor man's Sony. Ah, how times have changed. :)
