Okay, after seeing all the posts saying X car will kill Y car in a particular type of racing, lets see which types actually are done.

Vote only for the types that YOU have competed in on a track. Just driving fast on the street doesn't count. Knowing a guy that races doesn't count. It doesn't matter whether it's professional, amature, or recreational.

Edit: more specific on the type of racing

I had a '73 Plymouth Duster (340/4spd) that I used to bracket race most every weekend.

But I don't see what that has to do with "saying X car will kill Y car in a particular type of racing".

What's the point of saying X car will kill Y car in a particular type of racing, if nobody does it?

So, I'm now qualified to talk about what cars will beat other cars? Sweet!

No, but it's like saying that nVidia performs better than ATI when playing Daikatana. Who cares? Nobody plays Daikatana.

I've never played professional football, but I think I'm qualified enough to say that the Colts can beat the Lions any day of the week.

You don't have to have experienced something first hand, to have an educated opinion of it.

I used to drag race, and I once got thrown off of Laguna Seca by the sherriff when I tried to ride my bike around it while it was closed.

The argument is more of people doing the equivilent of saying that the Redwings can beat the Lakers at hockey. So the Lakers suck as athletes. But even that paralell doesn't work too well.

I started racing karts when I was 14. Won many titles and a national championship when I was 15.

Took about six years off after I was done with karts. Then in 2002 I stared racing NASCAR Modifieds, here's my car. That car had a 670hp SBC running on alcohol.

Just sold that car, and this season I'm going to be racing the WestCar Late Model stock car series out here on the west coast. Here's the new car. Best pic I have right now since we haven't raced yet this season. BTW, that's not an actual grand prix. just a fiberglass late model body over a full tube racing chassis. This series uses 450 hp chevy crate engines. pretty mild compared to my last ride. :D

What happened to your karts? I'm just getting started... :D

Poor college student and any attempt at serious karting doesn't mix well... :(

We sold the karts to start racing modifieds, but my parents got zapped with a massive tax bill that year. So the money from the sale of the karts went to pay the taxes. I then got caught up going to college, and it wasn't until after I graduated we had the money to get back into racing, in modifieds.

Which one is more fun? Karting or the modifieds?

Different types really. The modifieds race on oval tracks, but we're talking massive horsepower, with little traction. There are no engine rules in the modifieds I raced, so the tires were how they tried to limit engine spending. Didn't stop people. We had $20,000 in our engine, and it was a BEAST. So you were dealing with light car (2500 lbs) with a lot of power. You had to be on top of the wheel all the time. Plus we race all short ovals around 1/4 mile. In quarters that tight, you need to be on top of your game 100% of the time, no time to relax.

Karts are light, extremely short wheelbase, no suspension, and can be tossed around like crazy. I raced on road courses exclusively then, so that was cool. But on all road courses, you have long straights where you can kind catch your breath and relax. Plus it's easy to get spread out, and only be mixing it up with like one other kart. I raced classes that had a lot of horsepower to weight ratio, but even though the ratio is extreme, a 1 cylinder two-cycle engine just doesn't have the feeling that a 670hp 406 CI small block chevy does under your right foot.

Had a rice boy in a Civic chase me up to a buck twenty on the way back from CT this weekend. But I guess that don't count.
