POLL: At What Speed Do You Burn Your CD's?

While CD burners are rated now at speeds of up to 56X, I find that most of the time I burn mine at 24X regardless of the speed of the burner or the rating of the CD-R media. I do this because I've had some issues with CDs that I burned at higher speeds not being compatible with older machines... so in order to bypass having to burn twice sometimes, I just take an extra minute and burn a little slower.

This got me to wondering about other people. At what speed do YOU burn and what is your rational for doing so?

24X. It's all my burner can do and I wouldn't even pay $1 to upgrade it to anything faster.

24X (max speed) on my laptop and ussually 12 X on the desktop even though it is a 16X burner. I'm not sure why I burn so slow mostly cause I hate getting coasters and I don't mind waiting the extra 45 seconds.

16x is as fast as my drive will burn a CD. I don't feel that I need anything faster.

52x on my Plextor 52x. Never burned a coaster. Burn any slower out of fear of problems and you're just wasting your time - or your drive/media sucks.

48X or 52X depending on the media used. All of my Verbatim 48X CD-R's work fine @ 52X, and work in the car head unit as well as anything else I use them in. $35 for a 52X32X52 was too sweet to pass up. :)

I have a two-year-old Plextor 16/10/40A, so I can burn at a max of 16x. I can usually burn an entire CD in 4-6 minutes.

That's plenty fast for me.

Mine can do 40x but people with old drives cant read those cds when I burn them that fast.

I just do 8x now since it is the slowest my drive can do and seems to be the most compatiable.
