iPad 2. Apple is going to own the tablet space for at least the next 3 years. You'll have much better app selection for the life of the tablet. If you hate apple enough to pass on the market leader, then just get a deal on a Nook color and hack it.

Btw, I own an android phone, dislike many of apple's mobile practices, and don't like to see apple in control of a market in anything, so I'm more of a apple hater than fanboy.

If apple is gonna own the tablet space I think I can find it quite easy to pass on tablets for 3 years.

Already owned a XOOM, 2 Archos, iPad 2, and a Playbook, so I am not inexperienced. My position is that for the money and limited functionality I just dont need a tablet right now. I can do quite well with a netbook which has more hard storage, potentially more RAM, a mouse, a real OS, and costs less than half as much.
Also a keyboard, can use USB devices, etc, etc.
When tablets are cheap AND functional, I will make the switch. I predict that will also be the same time Apple no longer dominates the market.

Well I don't know about asshole but it IS annoying. I don't blame you for wanting to make a few bucks, but it's the same as ticket scalpers and feels like a bit of a dick move. It is because of people like you that people who actually want the product have to wait just that much longer. This happens everytime there is huge demand for a product and limited stock. People swoop in and buy up the limited stock and force those who are waiting to have to wait even longer, when those who got them first don't even want them for themselves.

Hey, don't blame me :) It was up, in stock, on Newegg's site for a full hour last night before it went back OOS. There was ample time to get one if you wanted it :)

Hell, I make quite a bit of money on eBay buying stuff cheap and reselling it (thanks to tips from Slickdeals). It's not my fault people don't spend the time to find good deals on their own.

Don't hate the player, hate the game

Artificially limiting the supply by buying them up and reselling them at a higher price so other people can't buy them at retail? Business is asshole. Especially given he explicitly stated he's going to sell the one he bought at a profit to buy another one cheaper which he intends to use. Just use the one you fucking bought in the first place asshole.

Oh, so now you're telling people what to do with THEIR money. Give me a break and get off your high horse.

If you want the damn thing, you can wait in line like everyone else until production ramps up in June... or you can sit around and wait for them to pop back in stock and snatch it up in the mean time.

I love how people like to sit around and bitch about stuff on the internet that has gone on for YEARS and you have absolutely NO CONTROL over.

Trust me guys, there are way more things to get all pissy about. Take a chill pill, have a coke and a smile. Relax :)

Wah... such is life in a capitalistic area. You're welcome to give elsewhere a try if you don't care for the system. Buy low and sell high... that's how money is made.

I'm not sure what you mean by artifically limiting the supply. The fact that it's sold out at all means the limit is real. The demand is exceeding what the current supply is regardless of how many is bought by who. I don't like this shit either, but it's not like it's wrong. These people are exploiting the human nature of being incredibly impatient. If people were willing to wait, and therefore not pay a dime more to get the thing NOW then there'd be no re-reselling market.

I'm the only vote so far for the Acer. I think it basically comes down to what features you'd want in a tablet. Seems the main pro for the Asus is the screen is slightly better and is able to be docked (for $150 extra). Main pro for the Acer is built-in USB ports (better sound is nice too, but that alone isn't deciding factor). For me personally, having USB ports would come in handy. I doubt I'd drop an extra $150 on the dock. The acer you could just use a usb keyboard or whatever if you needed to.

What a whiny bitch

I don't think you understand anything about business. The goal is to make money. If nobody wants to pay more for the product, then obviously he'll be stuck with the one he bought. If you want it that bad, you can pay extra and buy it from him.

Thinking about a Transformer, leaning towards a Playbook. Most likely going to sit this out for a few months. My 4 month old laptop is collecting dust.

I was hoping the PlayBook was going to be the holy grail of tablets. There is too much far too wrong with the PlayBook for me to even consider getting one.

Father got one through me at my store. I told him not to but he wanted one. He's enjoying it so far but yeah it's not something I could use. I mean a company that lives and dies by corperate email releaseing a tablet that has no email, no contacts, no calendar. WTF? LOL

Me too. But I got it and was not impressed aside from the smooth OS.
Returned it 3 days later.
Made a few posts on my experience in the Gadget forum.

Yeah it's liquid smooth that part is very nice and my father seems to be enjoying it. But personally I couldn't use it.

Nope. He's just an early adopter gadget freak. Loves to get any of the latest gadget toys.

He wont like the Playbook for long, trust me.
Having to hook into wifi and visit a web page every time he wants to check email is going to get tiresome.

Meh I wouldn't be happy with it I know that but he knows the limitations of it. He also has a WiFi only iPad 1 that he got while we were in vacation in Hawaii, because he didn't want to wait till they were released here in Canada. So the no 3G thing doesn't bother him. He has an iPhone 4 also which he can use as a wireless hotspot should he need to. He has a great 6GB data plan that has been grandfathered on his account for some time. Also blackberry has promised that they will be delivering integrated email, calendar and contacts in an update some time in the summer or fall. His college has paid for a lot of these toys out of a tech fund they give all the professors. Lucky bastard :D

Mac Book Air

Ahh ok. But the two are really in different market segments. The MBA is an ultra portable laptop. The transformer is a tablet which competes in the netbook arena with the keyboard dock. I think tablets have a good chance of replacing netbooks, especially with something like the keyboard dock. But they have a ways to go to give something like the MBA a run for its money.
