Just curious how many people have to drive in a salty, rust-inducing environment every year.

Nope, sand.

Then they send around vacuum trucks to pick it up for the next year.

Not where I live now, but back home (NJ), salt is a wonderful thing indeed for the winter.

Only when it snows or freezing rain. Not that often, really.

And if they ever salt the roads in Phoenix, I hope we've established colonies on Mars by then!

I live in Toronto where our salt bill in winter is bigger than the GNP of 90% of the countries in Africa.

In WI. Once the first snow comes, they start salting, and they don't stop until we hit 60. Cars don't stand a chance here.

also there are no more black cars.

Bout the same for IL & IA. In the winter, cars have a dingy white crust on them from all the salt.

I've seen it once here in Atlanta.

All the time when I lived in Michigan.

Why would they salt a perfectly fine, dry, road?

Oh, wait, I'm in SoCal... heh

Seriously, even in the mountains, they're not allowed to use salt. Only ash/volcanic gravel.

Especially here in Canada. :(

Road salt needs to be banished from the face of the earth. :|

no salt in texas, just sand with lots of rocks in it that crack your windshield and chip your pant :disgust:
