Anyone using a GF4Ti4200 64MB to play this game? Would like to know how the gfx is. :)

So far runs okay at 1024x768 with all settings on medium, no FSAA on my Radeon 9600XT...but my CPU/mobo combo is probably my bottleneck.

I'm extremely impressed so far...I'm surprised how much better this game looks than Counterstrike Source. So much detail in the environments...just amazing. IMO, this is the best looking game I've ever seen.

I'm trying to run HL2 on a system built in January 2002: ASUS P4B266, first-gen DDR Intel mobo, 400Mhz FSB with a P4 2.0A CPU. That is why I think that combo and not my Radeon 9600XT is the bottleneck.

Disappointed with the graphics? It's probably the most realistic representation of a modern city in any game ever, so I'd say I'm pretty impressed with them.

The charm (and 'wow factor') of the graphics is IMO in it's subtle ability to convey real life details. It's not like Far Cry where it's the most insanely lush tropical setting ever, but a perfectly defined, bleak city.

Uhh... Ok; sorry bout that. Unfortunately I'm not in US to see that :) Since they're in box, why bother getting it pre-load with Steam?

I dunno. I guess if it's 12 AM PMT and you want the game but are too lazy to get off your ass, just get it off steam. If you get the hard copy, you'll still be limited to just one copy that has to be validated online anyways. I'm getting mine through an ATI voucher, so I'm getting the game off steam and the hard copy in a month or so. I just like the idea that I have a hard copy with me.

How do you get both? Where is that option?

I have an ATI coupon as well...and used it towards the purchase of the Silver Package.

It was at the website. YOu can get it off steam, and then get the retail version shipped to you 6-8 weeks later. I believe that was one of the options

I have a Ti 4200 128 meg. I run at 640x480 with the default settings that the game decided were right for me, except I cranked water up from simple to "reflect world." The game runs fine, it's absolutely playable. The only stuttering I've seen is right after the levels load, and one scene in which about 30 exploding barrels explode at once.

Not disappointed at all. Actually, I am quite a bit more impressed than what I was expecting.

Yeah, and some of the environments/maps are huge. :)

The lighting and detail is incredible, but I was expecting a little bit more. I'm just being picky though.

With steam, Valve gets about $30 rather than only getting about $7 from a retail purchase. I would rather have Valve get the money and Vinvendi the publisher.

Either way I think the graphics looks great.
