well, when i see a snake that I can't see...as in it's camo'ed and i recognize that it's a snake 20 seconds afterwards...i'd freak..those snakes are pure EVIL...

one time in high school..i was on the golf team and i sliced the ball off to the dry rough (it was all brown and stuff) ...so i went to look for it and i found it....30 seconds later, i realize i was next to a snake all that time...i yelled like mad like insane like crazy ....call me pussy, but it was a rattler and i'm lucky to have not startled that evil being....

It's hereditary... most our ancestors weren't afraid of snakes or spiders... they all died. The wusses survived to pass on their genes.

Nope. Those bastards hurt when they bite though.

Yup, used to catch them when I was a kid. It's not that hard to tell the difference between poisonous and harmless ones.

I am not afraid of them only leery if I don't know what type of snake it is. Several years ago my family was walking on a nature trail and my wife and two youngest children were up ahead slightly and my oldest was with me. I saw something in front of her and casually said "snake." She yanked my son up by his arm and by some miracle didn't dislocate his shoulder and they ran off further up the trail ahead of the snake as if being chased by rabid dogs. She's ridiculously paranoid of them. Me and my oldest son tried to find the snake. ;) One other time on the same trail when she wasn't with is we saw two more sunning themselves in the middle of the trail. She really would have freaked then!

I'm not afraid of snakes, but I'm highly disgusted by them. Same goes with spiders. I don't feel fear, but I don't want to touch one if I don't have to.

I bet the same goes with the majority of people who are labeled as being "afraid".

im not scared, i like them but have never had one as a pet. i stepped on a baby rattle snake at the lake last year, killed it to without knowing until the next morning. spiders arent scary to me but again ive never been around them.

sharks scare me and crocs.

seeing my dog swim around gator and what not during duck season is scary.
