With the recently foiled terror plot and plane crash, are you afraid of flying?

I'm afraid of flying but it has nothing to do with recent events. I'm just a wussie.

I'm afraid of suffering an agonizing, painful death. However, I know the chances of that happening are slim. So no, I'm not afraid of flying.

I'm not a fan of flying, but I suppose it beats a long car ride. I'm wary of the smaller commuter jets and I still get earaches from flying on 737s.

Nope. I enjoy flying actually. The feeling of thrust as the plane rockets down the runway, the power of climbing away from the ground.

That said, I do think about all those crash videos I've seen on Discovery channel. They are in the back of my mind but I don't dwell on it. The worst part of dying in a plane crash would be the waiting IMO.

Commuter jets are the safest transports in the world but they are not very economical.

According to this site (I can't verify the stats), the odds of dying in a commuter jet flight seem to be significantly higher than an airliner or automobile: Text

Not at all...
If anything, i am more calm when i fly now than i did years ago.
Although i must admit that i still have panic attacks on planes here or there.

What foiled terror plot?

As for flying, I just like to take off and land. The ride sucks. I fear the waste of time spent in the air looking at nothing at all out the windows...if you even get one.

Never have, never will be afraid of flying. Unless I'm in some piss-poor country flying into some airport located in the middle of a desert. Then I'd be scared.

The 'communter plane' that site is refering to is a small propeller plane. The commuter jets that are flying today are all jet engined planes. They are either Embraer or Canadair, very safe planes.

I would be slightly apprehensive to fly a Brazilian-made plane. But JetBlue wants to buy a lot of them, so I guess they're safe planes.

Where does it refer to scheduled commuter airlines as "small propeller planes"?

I could not locate that section.
