When you want to show someone how to do something, do you always try to take the mouse from the person at the computer?

rofl... I did this to my boss today and he flipped out at me :D

Sometimes I do feel like taking the mouse and showing people how to do something, but I try to be patient and instruct them on what to do so that they can learn. It can get frustrating if they've never used a mouse before. :|

No. I let them try to fumble through it on their own and make an ass of themselves. :D

Most people at work are sensitive of their "personal space" (in a cubicle, hehe) so I usually ask "May I have mouse control" and they usually say yes.

I do more than that. I tell them to "get the hell outta my way" and throw them out of the chair, then I take the mouse. lusers don't deserve respect. :)

That is one of the things I am most impatient about, people who lack the acuity to properly handle a mouse. I know damn well it's no fault of their's, but I cn't stand watching someone spend 5 minutes maneuvering the mouse just to open one program. I really have to make a point of not grabbing when dealing with clients. Just as bad is people who cannot type at all, I feel like tearing my hair out watching someone hunt and peck.

I grab the wire and beat them with it.

Then they usually listen to me and give me the chair peacefully.

Edit: I can't spell

Mouse grabber yes, control freak definitely. I am a computer department supervisor at Best Buy and I'll walk by one of my guys making a sale and just cringe from their lack of salesmanship sometimes. I'm compelled to stop whatever I'm doing and stand and listen to them and interject when I feel its necessary. Some guys appreciate it when I do but boy...some REALLY dont.

I grabbed in the past, but now I usually let them do it.

If I am in a bad mood or in a hurry it is get the f*** out of that chair biotch!

If someone (like a friend) comes to show me some new scripting stuff/game/prog/something else then I give up my seat and mouse right away. Might as well just watch them and do it that way.

What I am trying to say is, "If you are ignorant, then ADMIT IT and STEP ASIDE!!!"

Wow, never knew a topic can be so true. It's just a habit when showing my friend anything with the computers. Don't really have the patience for explanation.

LOL, this thread reminds me of that SNL skit "your company's computer tech guy" or whatever the title is. :)

I too get that pulling feeling when watching the screen of the person I'm helping...

...my hand gravitates toward the mouse.

Yes, I get impatient when I get asked to do something and I have to wait for someone to figure it out after they asked me how to do it.

Yeah when I work on a computer it is usually, show me the problem, and then go away so I can make it better, I need mouse, keyboard, and chair, and no one watching me

Yes! because you tell them something and it seems like it takes them an eternity to click a button, meanwhile I could have done the entire thing 10 times over :p

Yes, I am a mouse grabber most of the time. Especially with my mom, whose mouse skills are not exactly the best in the world. It makes me very impatient, when something that should take 15 seconds takes 15 minutes instead :D

Yes, I can't help but to grab the mouse. Especially when I'm telling them what to do and they can't figure it out. I drives me nuts.

Depends on the person I'm trying to help and her/his level of experience with PC's. If they're so incompetent that when you say 'click start' they just stare blankly at you, I ask them 'kindly' to let me handle it. Otherwise I explain it 'calmly' ;)
