They are handy to have and I do tend to use them on cases that have them but I certainly wouldn't knock a case out of the running just because it didn't have them.

They are important to me because I am not going to reach around to the back to plug in my digital camera. I do have a USB hub that I can use to make a USB port more accessible for the camera, but even that is kind of an awkward solution. For a case that doesn't have front USB, though, you can usually add it through a multi-function panel.

yes. digital cameras and webcams for fast connections. i was also too lazy and cheap to buy a longer USB cable for my printer / copier / all in one, so i just hooked it up to the front usb.

yes

i don't use it much, but for i need to load stuff from the digital camera, it's so much easier than plugging it in the back.

in addition, front audio ports are very important too. gotta have a mic-in and headphone-out on the front.

Absolutely! I use mine for my pen drive, gamepad, digital camera, and soon an external harddrive. My server recently got a new motherboard which doesn't have a USB header on it. Now my Antec Easy USB ports on the front of the case are worthless. What a chore it is to go around behind the case to plug in the memory stick!

well easy to plug on and all,
but its not something really needed,
the wires of USB devices are long enough...

in fact.. having USB infront means more wiring inside the case..
making it more congested.

Now that I've got a USB memory stick, it comes in quite handy sometimes. Or maybe for when I need to quick hook in an external hard drive.

Not to me, I also have a USB extention A/B cable to bring the rear USB to within reach. But for the computers I sell to clients, it's a requirement.

No. At least not with my current needs. Personally, I hate wires on the front end of my case. I don't want to see wires/cables. I am too out of cash to afford wireless keyboard and mouse. Those are the only wires I see on my desktop, and that's just fine. Both my cases have front USB. One has them connected, the other I didn't bother. I use them never. Perhaps if I get devices I need to remove often this will change...

Yes, I really need front USB :) I had buddies who preferred the Enlight 7237 then, and I liked my Evercase. One reason was that back in the day, the Enlight had a bare front.

Recently, I've found front USB to be not enough. I got a front transfer panel, which also has front firewire, sound, and gameport. The feature I use most now is front audio out :)

Never had a case with USB on the front, guess I'm to cheap to ever buy a new case, I just keep cutting this one up... I've got a four port hub up on my desk, that's where I need the convience, my pc sits under the desk on the floor...

Agreed. I'm really reliant on my abit mediaXP front panel now - the firewire for my IPOD, the USB for my thumbdrive and other stuff, the Compact flash reader for my photos, and the front audio for headphones. It was worth every penny
