[POLL] Are most stereotypes true?

Example may-be-true context:

Professor of a psycology class asks the students: 'Why do <ethnic group> wear baggy clothes?' A student responds 'To hide weapons'.

How many sterotypes are true?

Poll is in this format:
I'd say about XX percent of stereotypes are true about xx percent of the time.

what type of stereo?

ster·e·o·type
n.
1. A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image.
2. One that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type.
.....
worst poll ever

1.

I guess I'm wrong, but these are what I used to think were stereotypes:

Teenagers who skateboard are dumb.
Jewish people are stingy.
Geeks are socially inept.
Etc.

i.e. Things that are percieved by some to be universal truths, but of course aren't always true.

I said 50% of them are 90% true. Figured it is impossible for something to be 100% and I also think about half of the stereotypes out there have significant merit.

This doesn't quite make sense. Some stereotypes are true very often, and many are rarely true. How can we vote 10% true 90% of the time AND 90% true 10% of the time (or any other variation)?

I'll agree to that

i would say about 80% of them are true 90% of the time. As a 100% hindu indian, i'll comment on indians. They smell, they're cheap, and they can't speak coherent english. Those are true 90% of the time.

heres another stereotype

Most black people do not know how to swim.

ill tell you right off the bat from my experience (not super extreme, but not limited) they really dont, they were just never given the oppurtunity and dont want to.

this is more for the less wealthy to middle-low class blacks.

Who should i vote for in 2004 (my first time)
Bush (i say yes) 80% sure
Kerry (i say no)
try and change it.

why bush? he lied about the wmd. he lied about the tax cuts. he's in the pocket of big business and the fossil fuel lobby. vote for somebody who might actually do something to make your life, and everybody elses, better in the long run.
