Im debating whether or not to add music (with an off button of course) to my new flash website.

Does it bother ya?

Flash annimations are OK if the purpose of a site is entertainment. They're annoying on websites where the main thing you need is information because they waste time when you really need to cut to the chase. Any site with a flash home page should have a prominent bypass link.

Most of my site navigation (including the main page) is going to be done in flash as of now.

depends on what type of music, what do you have in mind?

Just an ambiant background music, nothing that stands out.

If the flash is some kind of cartoon or movie, then music and sound in general is appropriate. If the flash is part of site navigation, sound should be left out.

Basically though, the only time I want to see flash is if I'm watching a movie made w/ it, i.e. the cat "I can smell your brains" thing.

If it is done tastefully, sure.

But if is anything like the transparent flash ads that I have to endure on websites that are loud and intrusive, I say no.

That about sums it up perfectly.

Flash for entertainment purposes is fine. All those flash games are cool.

But if I want info, skip the flash crap.

Depends... flash intros should always have one in my opinion as long as it matches the animation tempo. If you're talking about a flash animation like a fade in or tween in of a menu item, etc., then that's up to you. But then again, that's just considered a sound, not music.

Your last week before you leave for Europe, the last week before you won't see your GF for 4 months and therefor won't be getting any from her, and here you are wondering whether you will put a flash animation on your new website?

WTF? 😛
