[POLL] - Anyone here ever tried out for American Idol? Or know someoen that did?

They always talk about how many thousands of people show up at all these events so I figure someone here has to have gone to try out.

If you did, how did it go, how far did you get, etc? Or if it was a friend, did yo know they sucked and didn't tell them or did you tell them they sucked but they didn't believe you or what?

Just curious.

A former coworker went. Didn't even make it to the real judges. Flew out to NYC from Nebraska, even. She was a hottie (no pics available, sorry).

An acquaintances sister tried out. She got to the "real judges" but was rejected. She is a trained opera singer, wrong style for American Idol.

The producers of the show love bad singers as they provide a high entertainment value. In case you haven't noticed, a large percentage of the bad singers are singing poorly on purpose just to get on TV. My gf's cousin faked his way through an audition and got on American Idol singing as poorly as he possibly could.

No but I know someone who did.

It was someone from my high school, a year after he graduated. Truth be told, he was pretty bad (and they did show part of his audition on TV)

I know someone who went to the auditions, but never made it to the judges. He just went to be horrible and maybe achieve a William-Hung-like fame.

A girl i went to school with went to the Philly tryouts a couple years ago and got 2nd place. But you had to win it to be on the show. She currently lives in LA and is a singer/songwriter
