Is it even worth it to pick up some software that's cheap to try and learn spanish? If so, which software?

learning to speak another language fluently is very difficult without immerising yourself in the language, such as living in the country. It's not something 2 CDs and a book can teach you

I don't think it's possible to get to a decent (B1, B2) level using software only. IMO, you can learn the basics, but nothing more.

I speak Booga fairly fluently: ooga ooga booga aga boo booga boooooooooooooooooga!

Anyway, if you really want to learn a language I would reccomend taking some classes and then exposing yourself to it as much as possible. For Spanish, just look for a spanish radio station and try to pick up on words here and there.
