POLL: another light poll, which type of lamp do you prefer?

meh.. this is yet another light poll. This time, I just want to know what type of lamps you guys prefer..

I have a two lamp four footer in my room. It's a institutional grade stuff with basic cover on it. There is no pretty trims on the ends. The little knockout holes for tandom mounting is actually visible. I don't give a damn about how aesthetically pleasing it is. Basically, it was the cheapest stuff at Lowe's that had cover on it. The old regular lightbulb fixture I had had a decorative cover on it and it sure was more visually pleasing, but it was too dark. Dark office=unpractical. Light bulbs try, but they can never quite evenly light up a room like fluorescent.

This is something a typical middle age women would say "I hate that, it's really ugly!".

I have an 8-foot fluorescent over my comp workbench. I like to see what I'm doing 🙂

Those bulbs are some expensive, no?

incandescent is very close to natural light, and i think halogens are too... i hate flourescent bulbs though. sap the life out of you.

If i'm not mistaken they have some new flourescent bulbs that give off a more natural light than typical flourescents.

I hear they're pretty expensive though.

Depends on the type. The cheapest 8' lamp is $3 or $4 at major home improvement stores. A full spectrum 8' lamp can cost $30 a piece.

Eight footers aren't very popular, because they're pain in the @$$ big time. It will not fit in most cars, hard to handle, hard to stock and the only benefit is reducing the number of fixtures in buidings. The higher price is a product of low popularity.

FLUORESCENT LIGHTING

Cheap for the amount of light that you get versus electricty usage... Plus lots of choices for almost dirt cheap.

<< wow you guys sure think a lot about light... i just find a light bulb and screw it in. >>

🙂

<< I like LEDs. >>

How many LED's, power consumption and cost to get 6,000lumens@5,000Kelvin and 98CRI from LED?

The 15 watt bulb in my desk lamp is sufficient. It lights my keyboards, but doesn't glare out the monitors or blind me. 🙂
