I'm gonna have to go with American Chopper, but that Southern Chopper "marathon" they had on the other day was pretty good :)

I like American Chopper but it is a little weaker this season. Paul Jr.'s true character is starting to become evident and he is basically a lazy SOB and the fame has gone to his head.

If you think he has been laying around doing nothing since before Christmas, think again, he has been working on two more bikes worth four episodes that will be shown soon, what you see on the show (the bickering, fighting and apparent personalities) are written into the show, for the most part, they do not act like this in real life.

I like American Choppers better because of the personalities. However, I noticed that SC did a lot more fabrication on their bike than AC does on theirs. Of course Milwaukee Iron's (the shop that SC is about) main business is selling fabricated parts to other shops like OCC, not building and selling Bikes. I also like the Hillbilly Bike Builder on SC.

I did notice that when they were interviewing indivduals at SC those guys were using the same catch phrases that the guys at AC use. Leads me to believe that both shows are heavily scripted.

Roger, I don't agree with putting Paul Jr. ahead of Jesse James in the bike builder catagory. Jesse James does almost all the fabrication and design on his bikes, from the gas tanks to the fenders. He has his own engines made, as opposed to using an off-the-shelf engine like OCC (at least from what I've seen on the show). Comparing the work that WCC does on custom choppers, I'd take a Jesse James built bike over anything Paul Jr has done. The theme bikes are cool, but I kind of find them gimmicy (I realize that's not all the build).

Custom fabrication with stuff like the english wheel looks quite hard, and I give the guys who can do it a lot of credit.

Finally, someone who feels the same as I do:) That's why I like these new guys on AC, Rick & Mike C. actually use the English wheel they have.

FreAk:D

P.S.- Jesse James would pwn any AC builder.

For fabrication skills, I'd vote SC. Didn't they build the frame for their bike? Of course that's what they do, they fab the parts for other people's bikes. Since this is the first complete bike they're building in a while, I think it has the opportunity to be more interesting. OCC is basically a designer and assembler when compared to the other bike shops. They get everything in and then they put it together. I'd rather see the stuff getting made.

Personality wise, they're both entertaining. SC is true southern-born redneck hillbilly. Trust me, those people aren't really putting on an act! That's how those people really are. OCC - seems to me like they're not being who they really are, with the exception of Paul Jr. From the incredibly ditzy, hot, blonde girlfriend, the Plymouth Prowler... yeah, he's getting snobby. Mikey, on the other hand, is plain awesome and hilarious!

I thought Paul Yaffe's bike on the bike showdown episode was awesome: it should've won over Indian Larry's stuff. Indian Larry is ok, it just doesn't particularly appeal to me.

Jesse does not build his own bikes anymore, he's too busy with Monster Garage, he has his employess handle that now.

LOL, he's just to busy being Jesse James:)

BTW, over at the AC Forums at Discovery Channels Web site Jesse (Vanilla Gorilla) has put down a challenge to the guy at OCC for a Bike Build Off. He called them nothing but a bunch of Cake Decorators. So far the boys at OCC haven't acknowledged his challenge.

That may be, but the bikes he DID build were better than anything Paul Jr. has done IMO. His Sturgis Special is absolutly gorgeous.

I didn't realize monster garage kept him that busy. A lot of the episodes he's missing for part/all of the day. They keep him moving, I know on last week's episode, he was splitting time between the previous week's Jet car and the HS VW dune buggy build.

I saw him doing an AutoZone commercial the other day too. He's becoming quite the household name.

I bet he makes a fortune just on West Coast Chopper paraphenalia sales. Everywhere I go I see WCC Shirts, Sweat Shirts and Wool Caps, about 2 to 1 compared to OCC stuff and this is on the East Coast in Boston. I can imagine what it's like on the West Coast

definitely. t-shirts and merchandise are where music bands make the bulk of their money (not record sales). i would assume that jesse is making a killing the same way. t-shirts are dirt cheap to make in bulk.

Well he got $15 of mine as my girlfriend picked me up a LS WCC Shirt of his at the Bike Show last November.
