Hmm. I had a 555 BE on an MSI 785GTM-E45, and every time I enabled the "Core Unlocker" feature, whether or not I enabled ACC, it simply wouldn't boot.
I figured unlocking was bust on that board.

On the other hand, I had a 720 BE on a Gigabyte 785GM-US2H, and when I changed "EC FIRMWARE" to "Hybrid", and enabled ACC "Auto, all cores", it unlocked like a charm. It also displayed a message about flashing the EC Hybrid firmware when I saved and exited the CMOS. The MSI displayed no such message, which is why I think it didn't work.

Does your MSI board have a setting for "EC Firmware"? I couldn't find one on mine.

Also, did you update the BIOS? There were no updated BIOSes listed on their web site, but only links to their "Live Update", both options which didn't work.

I have a gigabyte, it displayed the message you are referring to, but then would not post, until I reset cmos.

I have a 1090T in that board now.

Mine doesn't have a setting for EC Firmware either. All I did was enable "Unlock CPU Core" and set ACC to "Auto" or "Per Core" to get it to unlock. And I forgot to disable CnQ even though that was recommended 😀

My board was on BIOS V8.3 when I got it, and my 555 unlocked fine with it. I'm on V8.5 now, though, through that same Live Update utility you mention. Maybe the one you got was just a sucker 🙁

I had an X3 710 that unlocked. I could get it to ~3.2 stable.

nice OC!

my x3 710 only goes up to 2.9 ghz locked or unlocked...

my x3 435 was able to unlock and oc to about 3.2ish...

was thinking of getting a x2 555 rig however it seems x3 still has a better chance of unlocking...

I picked up that Athlon X2 5000 from ewiz a couple weeks ago along with a Gigabyte board (785GM-US2H I think) and it unlocked fine to 4 cores, gave it a quicky oc to 2.6GHz just to see and then gave it and the mobo away to someone. Will have to ask him later and see what he got it running at.
