There is no way the max sig limit is 255 characters!!!! It's more like 200 characters or less!! Please update that because it is wrong. Trust me, I counted 5 times and I even copied and pasted it into Word. Characters (with spaces) was UNDER 255 characters yet it kept giving me the stupid message over 255 characters. Please help cause I want to add to my sig.

For example:

The code to make a link:

disney.com

translates to:

<A HREF=&quot;http://www.disney.com/&quot;>disney.com</A>

What shows in the box as 28 characters is in reality 47 characters.

Or, an even better example:

The code to make a smiley:

🙂

translates to:

<img src=&quot;i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif&quot;border=0>

Two characters is in reality 59.

when you say &quot;counted too&quot; bet you're reffering to the fusetalk code, i.e, the brackets, etc. (for example, [ Q ] stuff quoted here but without the spaces [ / Q ])

In reality, if you have links, etc, they get expanded into the html code - NOT the fusetalk code.

Perhaps that's what's wrong?

Yes it is right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It includes HTML !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone with a sig longer than 255 characters, has too much to say, and we probably need to be spared from it anyway. 😉
 
Although my opinion doesn't mean jack around here, I'll add it anyways...I think the limit is too low because it's not even enough to get three hyperlinks in (of reasonable length). Unlike some people who have a 200 line signiture with one or two letters a line, having 3 links doesn't take up very much space. Now if they could limit it by lines, that would be better, but I doubt it will happen.

It doesn't take up visible space. But, the more characters allowed in a sig, the more server resources are consumed. That is a major consideration at a forum this large.
