POLL: Adjusting the volume on your PC

I'm also curious to know at what levels you have your devices' volume settings at, including the OS settings.

The amp on my stereo system.

Die computer speakers, for the price of klips you can get a cheap 5.1 surround stereo system with a real subwoofer...

You should consolidate Speakers and Amplifier... I've never seen speakers work too well without an amplifier. Although the amp in the gigaworks sucks...

Anyways, I adjust the gigaworks amp, while leaving the Audigy 2 at a constant 75% volume. The poor omamps on Audigy cards cause distortion if master volume is up over 80%. 🙁

master volume on keyboard, but depending on what I'm playing, I'll use Winamp / Media Player to tweak it a little bit, if I only need to make it a little lower or higher.

i keep all volumes in the volume control panel at 50%, computer is connected to Home Theater digitally via an Optical cable, i use the recievers volume control to control volume.

I remember reading somewhere that for optimal audio quality, Master Volume, Wave, and Speaker Volume should be set at 3/4 or less. I have mine typically set to half.

Yup, and the Klipsch Promedia Ultras for the same money will obliterate your cheap 5.1 surround system. Not to mention the problems involved in getting surround in games from a HT system, requiring you to use soundstorm or analog y splitters.

i have a volume control on my logitech keyboard that i constantly neglect, along with all my other multimedia keys. i think im faster moving my mouse and clicking, rather than moving my hand across the keyboard to press a button. Either that i'm lazy, or just can't get used to knowing i have all these extra buttons to use. it's overload!

when at home, i use the volume on my receiver. when using my lappy's speakers or headphone output, i use the volume controls on the lappy, which control window's master volume.

actually i have the loudspeaker connected to my wireless headphone, so that's where i adjust the volume.

I never touch the "software" volume, it's always max. I change the volume with the volume knob on my stereo.
