Skoorb - almost every time that I've had to slam on my breaks, it was because of some other moron on the road pulling out in front of me, or doing other countless acts of idiocracy.

Generally ABS is better except when you are trying to show off by doing spins and other stuff like that (generally a bad idea) or unless you are a very skilled driver and can modulate a brake pedal like an AM transmitter. I used to drive my dad's '78 GMC 3/4 ton pickup with very lockable rear brakes, when some moron pulls out in front of you (because he didn't see something big, brown, and chrome coming at them) if you don't know how to work the pedal or atleast know when they locked up on you it becomes a good way to munch some metal.

When it was sold after I had been driving it frequently for 3 years and never fully mastered them (to my satisfaction), although it did make driving other cars a piece of cake.

My brother in AZ tells me about the drivers in the states - I guess its true. Thick traffic to me is taking 20-25 minutes to drive 10 km back from work in rush hour traffic! What could that take some of you, like 8 hours :)

I prefer to not have ABS brakes because if the time comes where I ever have to stop quicker than expected, I wanna hear the tires squealing so that I know I'm doing saomething. The ABS just keep rolling to a gradual stop. Only thing with ABS is that you don't flat-spot your tires
