I need an answer as soon as possible, but which one? The 9500 Pro or 9700 non pro?

9500 Pro - Sapphire 128mb $177 after shipping
9700 Non Pro - Atlantis 128mb $232 after shipping

The 9700 should be easier to flash to the 9700 pro, shouldn't it?

Is the non pro worth $55?

I flashed my Sapphire 9500 Pro to a 9700 Pro the day I got it. I'm still a little hesitant to go crazy when overclocking it though.

I thought flashing it overclocked it to 9700 Pro speeds? It doesn't? What exactly will flashing it do then? Will the flash increase its speed?

9700 == futureproofedness :)

reason why, is a simple flash & o/c can make your $232 9700np become a $275 9700pro

Flashing the video cards bios makes the card think it is a 9700pro and unlocks it(if it was locked). This unlocking allows you to overclock the card using a frequency adjustment utility. The flashing of the video bios and the overclocking are seperate operations.

what rickon said. Basically allows u to use an overclock utility with out having the card FLIP out like it does when the bios is locked and overlocked.

9xxx Mods for Radeons

check that thread out it has all the information on modding the Radeon's and which ones you can mod and which ones you can't etc.

I'm trying to get it stickied as it would solve a lot of questions.
