POLL - 89' CRX Si, How much would U pay?

I just got a new car, a 2002 Protege 5, i need to sell my 1989 CRX Si, and im wondering how much it would sell for once i post it up. How much would u pay?

Car INFO:
86k ORIGINAL Miles (engine original, all stock)
100% Stock, interior, and exterior, only thing not stock is cd player.
JVC CD Player
Color: Yellow (original paint)
Condition: Great and Running perfectly fine, not one mechanical failure.
Timing belt was changed at 70k miles, all tubes were also changed, along
with spark plugs and has never missed regular maintanence. Oil changed every
3k miles. Clutch is still very strong, has a lot of life left.

Although I'd imagine a CRX that's 14 years old not fetching more than $1k no matter what condition it's in.

well, also keep this in mind, its 86k original miles. so the chassy and engine has only had 86k miles on it. The interior is in awesome condition. Oh yeah, it doesnt have AC either, hah. never came with it. thats a big draw back... but other then that, its a great car.

I would ask for 2700 - 3000 and hope to get an offer for around 2k - 2500.

yeah, i was thinking of putting it up at 3500-4000, ive seen way too many idiots buy hondas for way too much just cause their really reliable. i was one of those, i paid 4k for this car when i bought it, but its never given me one single problem, and ive had it for about a year. its worth more then KBB, but i cant get mad if thats all i get out of it, it is 14 years old. hehe

Leave a trail of burning oil smoke so dense drivers behind it would have a difficult time navigating.

Yep. Just checked it myself, and that's exactly what I would do as well. Looks nice and clean from the pics. You might want to advertise at like $2,900, hope to sell it for $2,500, and be willing to accept no less than $2k if it doesn't sell quickly. If you get less than $2k, you would have been better off having traded it in.

yeah, thats the plan. thanks for the feedback fellas, and yes, i mean beat there ass in a race, its small and old, but its still one of the quickest stock cars to date. a 14 year old car with 105hp that runs a 14.6 1/4 mile.. not too shabby.

Have you tried to trade in a car recently? The market is so completely flooded that they are offering next to nothing for used vehicles. Expect to get 2/3 KBB trade in or so.

As in all aspects of car buying and selling, that is completely negotiable. Dealers have been trying to screw people on trade-ins forever, it's not a new thing based on today's economy, except that savvy, internet-educated car buyers have been pushing new car margins lower which has forced them to lower trade-ins in order to stay profitable. - Leave the trade-in out of the deal and sell private party.
- Negotiate from your superior position (a car buyer is ALWAYS in a superior position, don't be fooled) until you get what you want. Beware that the dealer may kill the deal if you push them into an unprofitable position. Best idea is to either push up the value of the trade-in or (even better) pull down the price of the new car.
- Kill the deal and keep driving the old, perfectly-running car.
- Bend over and get screwed.

And to answer your question: yes, in March when the market was even worse than it is now. I chose option #1 above, but then again I bought my new car for less than dealer invoice. I then sold my old car private party, and though it took about 3 months to do so, I profited about $4k over what the dealer offered.

Even though I personally hate the color, that car looks like its in great shape. I would try to sell it for 3 Grand first. People are going to check blue book before they even call you for a test drive though.

Dude, it's a 14 year old go-kart, 90% of CRXs I see are on sale for 3 digit prices. I wouldn't pay much more than 1k for it.
