Poll-32 bit vs 64 bit windows

Since this is a hot topic lets see what people say

Considering I have to spend maybe $350-400 to up grade to 64 bit ($150 for vista home premium upgrade+ 2gig more memory)...

Just wondering if it will be worth it for a gaming rig.

It seems to get the most out of 64 bit you need 4 gigs of ram.. but how much more performance will you get vs 2 gigs of ram.

Also considering the games that will use DX10, will 64 bit 4 gig memory be better or will 2 gigs be fine?

The Vista box comes with both a 32bit and 64bit version, so you don't have to pick which one to buy.

64bitness is (mostly) about breaking through the 4GB VAS barrier. There are some additional performance benefits, namely the 8 additional registers included when using x86-64, but often times memory requirements are double than of their 32bit counterparts (this is not a universal truth...).

I'm wondering which to install myself when I get Vista eventually. I guess it really depends on how well the drivers and applications run. I'm running WinXP 64bit version right now and I'm not really impressed it with it.
