I got back $1300, last year I had to pay $3700 and all this without any change to my W4s. It's all dependent on whether the wife sells stocks or exercises stock options.

personally, no offence to anyone... I feel getting back money at the end of the year is stupid on ones part and not a good sign of money management. Its ok as long as you are in collage or doing a part time job. But if you are in a full time job with home and 401 and stuff I feel you shud get the minimum deducted and pay IRS at the end of the year. If you get more every month you can put that money to work and get some return. If uncle SAM gives you back at the end of the year then, after all, thats what uncle sam has been doing...

I'm getting all my non-FICA taxes back. Somewhere in the range of $100-$200 if my NYS and Federal tax refunds are combined.

No one likes to give the Feds an interest free loan, but if you're getting back ~$1000 (assuming you also get payed every 2 weeks of the year), then it ends up being about $38 a paycheck. It could be hard to get it down to how much you should have withheld from your paycheck.

~$1400 back. All of which went to my lasik surgery :p Sure, it may be giving Uncle Sam an interest free loan, but at least that money's tucked away for a rainy day instead of having the urge to spend it.

Yep. It's $3k I didn't know I was getting so I'm happy. If the gov't wants to get a few percent on a measly $3k, I have no problem with that. And now I know that I can adjust my W form to have my checks adjusted for this year.

We're getting about ~3200 back. Really need to adjust the withholdings, we have been through some significant financial changes in the past year and a half.

One of those would be me - I got laid off from a job and had to sell off my stock options and my severance pay ended up bumping me up a few tax brackets. Tax day was brutal. I ended up paying the IRS $25K this year. Lesson learned - I should have taken out taxes when they were sold!

And yes, I knew it was coming, but it's always a shock.

I sold a rental property I'd had for about 10 years.

Taxes weren't pretty for that.

I will get a $400 refund from GA.
I paid the Feds some $1400 in 2006 taxes (In addition to my 2006 est. payments.)
I paid DC some $500 in 2006 taxes.
I paid the Feds $4200 in Q1 2007 estimated taxes.
I paid DC about $800 in Q1 2007 estimated taxes.

So yeah, I got to write checks totaling $6900 this week. If everyone got to pay taxes like do, there would be riots in the streets!
