Weight difference is about 1 lb (5->6) but the 15" is "FlexView" not a TN panel, basically, it is much brighter.

Edit: This will be for law school, I will take it to class every day. It will be used for text editing and taking tests (text) also.

Seriously though, if 1lb makes a difference when you have a bag that weighs 45lbs, you need to seriously put on muscle. Working out has made travelling so much easier for me, therefore nerds should be strong as a true, dedicated nerd would be hauling a CRT and Full tower to a Lan party.

Or if you don't have to carry the extra pound, then you shouldn't have to. Don't go calling someone a weakling just because they want to reduce the weight of their luggage.

Wow, then mountain climbers must be weak pansies, because they buy the lightest gear they can, down to ounces.

I have a Dell D600 with 14.1" 1400*1050. For young eyes the pixels are not too small, and it looks very sharp.

Are you a mountain climber? Didn't think so. Never encountered a mountain at the airport.

Actually I just realized something. Here is a question for you, if you get the 14.1" screen for the laptop, will you have a smaller body than if you get a 15" screen? I've noticed on laptops that have multiple screen sizes that the lower size is usually the same body as the laptop w/15" screen but with tons of plastic bezel crap surrounding the screen. If you can get a 14" screen laptop with virtually no plastic bezel boarder (essentially smaller body overall) then get that one instead and you'll have higher PPI(DPI).

Basically, it comes down to stressing your eyes.

You have to decide whether the increase in pixel size in that .9 inch that will provide a service to you that warrants the difference in weight.

It totally depends on what you want to use it for

If you have good eyes, get the 14.1. Otherwise get the 15. This thing will be moving a lot or no?

Its not that I can't carry it, but that I don't want to. I've had 8lb laptops, and I've had 4lb laptops. I can lift 4 lbs, or 45lbs easily.

But that 8lb laptop NEVER got taken anywhere...too huge and bulky. The 4lb got thrown in a backpack like it was a book, and it never was a question of whether or not it was a burden.

If its something youre carrying around constantly, you want the lightest you can get. 6% less screen space for 20% less weight is an excellent tradeoff.

It really depends what the laptop is for. If youre bringing it around everywhere, the lighter the better. If its a desktop replacement that barely ever spends times unplugged, might as well get the bulkier one.

The 14.1" screen uses a smaller chasis. Look at the specs on the Lenovo site.

notebooks are meant for portability, if you're not giving up any performance, go w/ the smaller screen. i have a 14.1" and i love it, although i am considering trading up to a 15.4", but only because my notebook doesn't have the core duo and dedicated graphics that the 15.4" version does.

i say go for 14.1" since it's lighter. if you don't care about the extra pund, go for the 15".
