Poll: 128Mb WinME or 256Mb Win2K. What should I choose?

I have 128Mb right now. I am used to win9x and ME but I have access to Windows 2000. What I like about windows 2000 is that my TV card works in it (don't laugh), and it would be a good occasional server to another little computer I have.

I want to keep my 700MHz computer in action for a while yet, who knows how long? Just wondering if anyone can advise me, could I really use more memory and Windows 2000 as well. What will games require in a year's time do you think? What will see me through?

Thanks for any responses.

I refuse to vote as I don't think this is quite the best or intended use of polls. However, I will respond - you should upgrade to 256MB no matter what OS you end up going with. RAM is sooooo freakin cheap right now. I am thinking of going to 512MB🙂

Win2000 is definately better.

Right now you can survive on 128MB of RAM in Win2000 but barely....going up to 256MB is a big improvement.

In a year under Win2000 you'll probably want 384 or 512...256 might be alright though.

LarryJoe, you spoke dumb. I think what you mean is that any poll should speak to and about a great many people. Not really. The poll is a quick way of telling me what you think. It makes it easier for you.

I use Win98 so shall try to be unbiased, anyway go with Win2000 it`s very good at handling more memory plus very stable compared to WinMe,Memory wise 256mb is a very good starting block ,a year from now well 256mb-512mb will probably be the average.

🙂

Win 2000 is great with 256meg, just make sure all your hardware will work in 2000! Some examples would be scanners, video cards, ect.

Thanks, guys.
I was just over at Crucial and saw their prices have dropped even more. Wow. I paid only 20% less for 64Mb 9 months ago.
Snapped it up.

LOL - isn't that an oxymoron?

Sorry, that's how I feel, no offense, I gave you my opinion and that is what counts. You would rather just have a blind vote with no input or reasoning when it comes to your system?

Anyhow,

Sorry man.
