'05 Mustang V6 Standard Transmission

'05 Tiburon V6 SE Standard Transmission

Two guys are arguing at work as to who will win, and supposedly they are going to race someday.

I'm not a Hyundai fan... but something tells me the Tiburon would win.

What do you guys think?

i know the tiburon seems to weigh close to 3000 lbs from what i last read, unknown about the mustang.

should be close.

well if a guy is driving a tiburon he's a pussy, so hte mustang.

And if he's driving the stang, he NEEDS pussy. 😉

the new Tiburons look O SO much better than the old go karts they were. MUCH MUCH better

Tiburion: 172HP 2.7L V6, ~2900lbs curb weight
Mustang: 210HP 4.0L V6, ~3500lbs curb weight

My money is on the mustang. Larger displacement engine = more low end torque, not to mention more power overall.
And yes, two stock V6's drag is stupid. Tell your friends to buy some real cars and race

EDIT Oh yeah, and Tiburon is FWD. More power is lost going from engine-->wheels w/FWD. RWD FTW 🙂

Actually your weights are a little off.

Tiberon SE = 3023lb. @ 172 HP
Stang V6 Std = 3300.b @ 210 HP

The Stang has a definate power/weight ratio advantage plus higher torque numbers.

3023lb/172 HP = 17.57lb/HP

3300lb/210 HP = 15.71lb/HP

I'd have to say in all fairness that the Stang would whip up on the Hyundai.

RWD launch > FWD launch...the 60' time makes all the difference..so my guess would go for the Mustang.

TIBBY for the WIN!!!!!!! You don't know how fast those tibby's are really.. I've seen some go real fast... they were N/A too 😉
