Are you really supposed to be talking about politics amongst co-workers at work? At my work I work in an open mall and basically there are a lot of people who are neo-cons. I disagree with them 100% and it gets on my nerves when they talk about politics and how the Dems suck and this and that... are you even supposed to be talking about this kind of stuff at work? Don't most work places have policies in regards to this kind of stuff?

I think it is after the Palestinian-Israeli incident at our place.

I've had friends who got fired from their job for talking politics. It "offended" someone in the office.

I no longer talk at work about politics. I might talk to individuals from work outside of work about politics, but not in the workplace itself.

we don't have any rules expressly forbidding it, but it doesn't come up as a topic of discussion very often.

Although there is no rule at our company thats says you cant, I think it violates all work etiquette. It's funny you mention this, because earlier, my annoying coworker who has a history of being obnoxious starts talking politics, and although I agree with his opinions, he needs to STFU because the work environment is no place for an extreme and sensitive topic such as politics.
