29. If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?

No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you?ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls.

My email response to Citizens for Community Values:

I'm a registered xxx and I'll be staying home tomorrow because of your robo-call at 8:30 tonight waking my 7 month old daughter (not to mention the fifty or other organizations that have annoyed my family this past month.)

While I understand that political organizations are exempt from the federal do not call regulations, receiving a call after 8pm is annoying, intrusive, and inappropriate. Those are not community values that I support.

Please reconsider your campaign tactics.

This is a true story, for the fifth night in a row a robo-call has distrubed my daughter's sleep and runined 30 minutes of my night.

I wonder if I'll get a response.

I've received 4 recorded political calls this year which is a record for me.

Way to stick it to the man by staying home and not voting at all tomorrow because of their legal call. LOL

Depending on where you live, that may have been their goal all along.

Slashdot link

Apparently those happy fun Republicans are spamming people with telemarketing calls while pretending to be Democrats. The goal being to annoy people into voting Republican...

I'm still going to vote. But hopefully political organizations will realize that these robo-calls do more harm than good (wait I guess the republican party has already figured this out.)

I'm getting 2-3 per day. And we are on the do not call database. I never get any telemarketing calls, but these political people apparently don't have to follow the same rules.

I have had several of these and I am in Tennessee. I have listened to each and every one. Some I even talk back to, my wife thinks I am crazy. :D

Democrats use them too.
